About SCENARIOS 2050
SCENARIOS 2050 is a partly educational and partly journalistic research initiative. It is an organisation which investigates technological change, social innovation, and the strategies of 'highly future-oriented places'.It is dedicated to promoting the skills of "foresight" and "futures thinking" with a special focus on "scenario planning".
Mission
Our mission is to contribute to the growing public debate about how to reimagine and shape our futures against the background of the unprecedented disruptions of the
21st century. We have a special focus on the impact of AI on our social systems (see research blog).

Our personal objectives are a) to make sense of the great global changes taking place today, b) to anticipate plausible future scenarios of the major sectors of society such as education, health, mobility etc. for the next 1 to 25 years, and c) to investigate lighthouse projects displaying how "highly future-oriented cities and regions" are preparing for the 21st century ("places of the future").​
Vision
The work of Scenarios 2050 is based on the hypothesis that the widespread uncertainties and anxieties precipitated by the perpetual disruptions of the Age of AI, the looming environmental crisis, and the unsettling shifts in (geo)politics have created a profound need for hopeful and meaningful images of our futures.
We believe that by promoting the skills of foresight and scenario building, we can inspire individuals, organisations and communities to collectively reflect the impacts of current changes on themselves (or on society as a whole) by constructing plausible and/or preferred scenarios of the future..
